You are not your past. You are not broken, and you don’t need fixing.
STRENGTHS-BASED TRAUMA THERAPY IN MARYLAND, DC, AND ALABAMA
Helping you go inward, befriend yourself, and reclaim your intrinsic worthiness and power.
Why Therapy?
You feel like you’ve lost control of your own life. You’re feeling stuck reliving the past and fearing the future. You tell yourself you should “just get over it,” wondering if you’re overreacting. You feel like you’re on an emotional roller coaster, feeling overwhelmed, strangely numb, and everything in between. It’s impacting your relationships, your job, and your well-being. You can’t help but compare yourself to the “old you,” and you just want your life back.
These feelings are valid AND your story doesn’t stop there. With therapy, I’ll help you learn new tools to apply to daily life so you can:
Reclaim control of your life and how you respond to it
Manage emotions and physical sensations – even the tough ones
Trust yourself to take up space
Find constructive ways to soothe yourself – without shaming yourself
Separate yourself from your past to live authentically in the present
Find freedom from judgment by speaking to yourself with kindness
You deserve a life like this, and we can get there together.

I specialize in working with folks impacted by:
Sexual Violence

Hi there, I’m Katie.
You know those therapists on TV - the ones that ask “how does that make you feel?” and spend more time describing your “symptoms” to you than actually listening to and connecting with you? Yeah, I can assure you, I am not that type of therapist!
My approach is dynamic, laid-back, and fiercely accepting. I am genuinely enthusiastic about helping you skillfully navigate through the turbulence that trauma left behind. I am all too familiar with the byproducts of trauma: feeling disconnected from yourself, feeling terrified of seemingly random things, doubting yourself, fearing you’re a burden to others, having trouble sleeping, wondering if it was “really that bad” - I hear you, sincerely, and you don’t have to feel this way forever.
In therapy, I can help by holding space alongside you as we build trust and safety, compassionately witness your pain points, implement creative, accessible, and strengths-based techniques completely unique to your goals, and lean in to your own inner wisdom, so you can heal yourself.
I truly believe that you are not broken, and that you do not need fixing. You are innately worthy and whole, just as you are, and just as you’ve always been. Now is the time that you start seeing yourself that way, too.
I can’t change where you started, but I can give you the freedom to choose how you finish.
Therapy can help. I’m ready when you are.
